What does capless mean? How many kinds of caps do you have?

The cap is the base of the wig onto which hair is attached. Wigs are available with several different types of caps and the hair of the wig is then attached to the cap using various techniques. Each cap type has its own distinct advantages. On most wigs, hair is attached in "wefts." These are strings of hair doubled over and sewn closely together in long strands. This string is then machine sewn, hand sewn or hand tied horizontally onto the vertical lines of a wig cap.

Standard Cap: The most common of all wig cap types and is usually not visible through the hair. The cap usually has a closed lace layer around the crown at which the hairs are sewn onto by machine. Hair is usually styled in such a way that the crown is lifted so the cap is not visible. This cap gives the hair volume at the crown due to the natural lift.

Skin-Top Cap: These use a skin colored elastic top. Usually, thicker hair is attached on top and does not show the skin color through the hair.

Monofilament Cap: Made in such a way that gives the look of a natural scalp by allowing the natural scalp color of the wearer to show through. Monofilament caps are typically made of thin mesh-like material, usually of nylon or polyester. Due to hairs usually being attached by hand tying at the crown, these caps usually give the most natural look. Wigs are thus easier to style and more versatile due to the attachment method. Much like real hair, the wig can be parted or brushed in any direction. These soft cap wigs are good for easily irritable scalps. Due to the natural look of the wig, it is also highly recommended for severe and total hair loss individuals.

Capless This type of cap allows for maximum aeration for the wearer. The crown is constructed by vertical lace strips with open spaces between wefts. These openings allow the wig to be lighter and more breathable than standard cap wigs.

Synthetic or human hair, which is better?

Synthetic Hair: More easily cared for and also lower priced. The monofilament fibers used to make each hair on synthetic hair wigs allow the hairs to maintain different types of styling such as texture, curl, waves, or volume. Higher quality synthetic hair wigs are practically impossible to differentiate from human hair, however can be permanently damaged if styled with heat styling tools or chemical treatments.

Human Hair Usually made of Chinese, Indian Indonesian or Caucasian (European) hair. Most Human Hair wigs are made from Chinese or Indian hair as they are more readily available. European hair is the strongest type but due to the scarcity, makes it more expensive. This type of wig requires more upkeep/care and investment but is the most natural looking and durable option. Since they are made of human hair, these wigs can be styled just like your own hair. Remy hair is cut from the donor’s head and kept in the same direction when used to make the wig/hairpiece to minimize tangling. Human hair wigs can be cut, chemically treated and heat-styled but also needs to be cared for like your own hair and needs to be washed, conditioned, dried and styled. However, since these wigs have been pre-dyed and chemically treated to achieve the style and color we do not recommend further chemically processing your wigs. Results may not be as expected and further chemical treatment may result in over-processing and damage the natural hair fibers. These wigs are typically for people that are able to provide more care and attention for the wig. Consumers with less time to care for wigs but that are also going for a more natural look should look into human hair-synthetic blended wigs that will retain more style than a fully human hair wig.

Can I wear my wig while cooking and using the oven?

When cooking, please be sure not to open the oven, dish washer or BBQ, while wearing your wig. Also, try not to expose the wig to any other heat source, such as a blow dryer, curling iron, flat iron, or even the clothes dryer, etc.

How often do I wash my wig?

Wash your wig after wearing it 10-12 times.

Can I use regular mousse with my new wig?

You can use regular mousse daily on synthetic and human hair wigs for extra body and a more natural look and feel.

How can I prevent my wig from tangling?

It is natural for human hair to tangle and shed somewhat. However, with proper care and maintenance your wig should be very manageable. We recommend the use of a big tooth comb and detangling conditioning spray or leave in conditioner to soften.
